Superior Electoral Court establishes climate monitoring for 2026 elections
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has implemented several measures to prepare for the 2026 elections. President Kassio Nunes Marques established two new security nuclei to ensure electoral integrity. This includes the creation of the National Climate Situation Room, which will monitor meteorological and hydrological risks to prevent disruptions to voting locations, electronic ballot boxes, and essential services like energy and telecommunications. The climate room will collaborate with agencies such as INMET, Cemaden, and INPE to develop contingency protocols.
Regarding the current campaign, the TSE reported 1,103 complaints of irregular propaganda via the Pardal app, with São Paulo recording the highest number at 193. Common violations include illegal propaganda on public property and the spread of disinformation. Additionally, the TSE has defined the distribution of free electoral airtime for presidential candidates. The coalition led by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will receive the largest share, with 5 minutes and 31 seconds daily, followed by Flávio Bolsonaro (4 minutes and 20 seconds), Ronaldo Caiado (2 minutes and 2 seconds), and Augusto Cury (35 seconds).
Finally, the deadline for voters to request transit voting for the upcoming October elections concludes on Thursday, August 20.
