Superman IV memorabilia signed by Christopher Reeve heads to auction

A wooden commemorative key signed by the cast of ‘Superman IV: The Quest for Peace’ is being auctioned to support a UK charity. The artifact, which features signatures from Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, Margot Kidder, Mariel Hemingway, and director Sidney J. Furie, has been on display at the Age UK Milton Keynes headquarters for nearly 40 years.

The key was originally presented to the charity by Cannon Films as a gesture of thanks after the organization's building served as a production base during the 1986 filming. Approximately 18 minutes of the film were shot in Milton Keynes, including scenes at the local railway station which doubled as the United Nations headquarters.

Age UK Milton Keynes is auctioning the piece through Goldin Auctions in the United States to fund urgent building repairs and improvements. While the item has an estimated value of approximately £2,500, experts suggest its unique history and connection to iconic Hollywood stars could drive the final price higher. The charity expressed a hope that a local business or individual might purchase the key to eventually return it to the Milton Keynes community.
