Supermarket chives priced higher than silver in UK and US

Rising grocery costs have led to instances where certain food items are priced significantly higher than precious metals. In the United Kingdom, chives have been sold at supermarkets for approximately £2.30 per gram, which equates to roughly €2,680 per kilogram. Similarly, in the United States, prices have reached approximately $2.42 per gram, or €2,080 per kilogram.

By comparison, the price of silver in August was recorded at €1,911.68 per kilogram. In Germany, supermarket prices for chives are reported to be around €465 to €620 per kilogram. The high costs are often attributed to consumers purchasing small containers without closely inspecting the weight or total volume of the product.
