Supermicro and AMD unveil 72‑GPU Helios rack for AI at Computex

Super Micro Computer and AMD introduced the Helios rack‑scale platform at Computex in Taipei. The system packs 72 double‑width GPUs – AMD Instinct MI455X – together with 6th‑gen AMD EPYC CPUs and Pensando networking, delivering high‑density compute for large‑scale AI model training and inference.

Company leaders highlighted the efficiency gains, with Charles Liang saying, "With DCBBS, Supermicro is redefining what is possible in the data centre by shifting from traditional server design to a complete rack‑scale architecture," while AMD’s Ravi Pendekanti noted, "The next era of AI will be defined not only by more compute, but by how efficiently that compute can be deployed, connected and scaled."
