Superyacht Amadea sold for $187 million to DAMAC Properties heir
The 106-meter superyacht Amadea has been sold for $187 million to Abbas Sajwani, a 27-year-old businessman and son of billionaire real estate magnate Hussain Sajwani. The Sajwani family controls DAMAC Properties, a major Dubai-based real estate group with established business ties to the Trump Organization.
The vessel was originally seized by U.S. authorities in 2022 near Fiji as part of Task Force KleptoCapture, an initiative aimed at identifying and seizing assets belonging to Russian oligarchs. The U.S. Department of Justice identified the true owner as Russian mining tycoon Sulaiman Kerimov, who has been under U.S. sanctions since 2018.
Following its seizure, the yacht was moved to San Diego, where it remained docked for nearly three years during legal disputes regarding its ownership. During this period, maintenance, crew wages, insurance, and docking fees cost the U.S. government between $600,000 and $1 million per month, totaling approximately $36 million.
