Angiola II superyacht sinks off Sardinia days after delivery

The Angiola II, a luxury 30-meter Amer F100 superyacht valued at approximately $9 million, sank off the coast of Sardinia near Porto Cervo just four days after being delivered to its new owner.

The incident occurred on a Tuesday evening in the Costa Smeralda region, between L’Isola dei Cappuccini and Capo Ferro. Preliminary reports suggest that an engine failure triggered a fire in the engine compartment. While the fire was extinguished, it reportedly damaged the vessel's seals, causing it to take on water and eventually capsize.

All 14 people on board, including the unnamed Italian owner, guests, and crew, were safely evacuated by nearby vessels. No injuries were reported. The yacht currently rests on its side at a depth of approximately seven meters (23 feet).

Authorities from the La Maddalena Port Authority have deployed containment barriers around the wreck to monitor for potential environmental impact, though no fuel leaks have been detected so far. A specialist 200-tonne tugboat or pontoon is being prepared to recover the vessel. Amer Yachts stated the vessel had been correctly maintained under warranty, and investigations into the exact cause of the sinking are ongoing.
