Support initiatives for grieving children and families in Germany

The Stiftung Kartei der Not has donated 55,000 euros to support the Lacrima grief counseling program provided by the Johanniter in the Bavarian Swabia region. This funding will benefit more than 220 children, adolescents, and young adults across eleven grief groups in Augsburg, Kempten, and Neu-Ulm.

The donation aims to keep the program free of charge and facilitate its expansion. Specifically, the funds will be used for training 65 volunteer staff members and purchasing materials for creative activities, such as games and crafts, which help young people process loss through peer exchange and age-appropriate expression.

In a broader context, pastoral care services, such as those offered by the Diocese of Essen, provide various forms of support for individuals navigating the diverse emotional stages of grief, including shock, pain, and eventual reconciliation.
