Supreme Court declines urgent hearing on Ayodhya Ram Temple fund probe petition

On 25 June, the Supreme Court in New Delhi refused an immediate hearing on a public‑interest litigation that seeks a swift investigation into alleged irregularities in the Ayodhya Ram Temple's donation fund. The petition, filed by lawyers Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav, asked for a CBI‑led special investigation team, preservation of bank records, audit reports and CCTV footage, and a court order to prevent tampering with evidence.

The bench of Justices B.V. Nagratna and Joymalya Bagchi said the case would be entered into the court’s registry and the petitioners could raise it again before a weekend bench, noting, “The registry will list it. You will get a date.” A three‑member SIT chaired by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant has already submitted a preliminary report to the state government, and the detailed probe continues.

The decision leaves the fund‑misappropriation allegations under investigation without an expedited court‑ordered timetable.
