Supreme Court demands explanation over cremation of missing realtor Yuvraj Manchanda

The Supreme Court of India has directed the Delhi Police commissioner and the Gurugram police to file affidavits explaining why the body of missing realtor Yuvraj Singh Manchanda was cremated without proper identification. Manchanda’s body was recovered from a drain in Gurugram on September 10, but his family claims they were not notified of the recovery until September 16, after the unidentified body had already been cremated on September 14.

In a separate proceeding, Delhi’s Saket Court criticized a status report submitted by the Gurugram police regarding the case, describing it as “cryptic” and non-compliant with previous orders. The court has ordered the Station House Officer of the Badshahpur Police Station to submit a fresh compliance report before the next hearing.

Two individuals, Anya Vats and her husband Sanyam Sachdeva, have been arrested in connection with the investigation. The case involves allegations that Manchanda was shot at point-blank range.
