Justice Sandeep Mehta escalates allegations against Rajasthan High Court judge

Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta has sent a fourth letter to Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, escalating allegations against Rajasthan High Court judge Sanjeev Prakash Sharma. Mehta has accused Sharma, the former acting chief justice of the Rajasthan High Court, of maladministration, nepotism, and abusing administrative powers.

Specifically, Mehta alleged that Sharma interfered in an internal judicial enquiry conducted by a committee of three female judges. The enquiry concerned a judicial officer accused of displaying indecent photos of a female colleague. Mehta claimed Sharma’s intervention breached confidentiality and threatened the independence of the proceedings. Other allegations include arbitrary rule changes and interference in a land dispute. Justice Sharma has dismissed the allegations as baseless.
