Supreme Court of India to launch monthly legal education lecture series

The Supreme Court of India will launch a monthly lecture series focused on law, justice, and legal education. Announced by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant on Teachers’ Day, the initiative is themed ‘One important idea. Every month.’

The series aims to foster dialogue between established legal institutions and the younger generation. Each session will feature a distinguished lecture by an eminent jurist, scholar, or expert, followed by an ‘Ideas Dialogue’ involving young advocates, law students, and researchers. To ensure wide accessibility, the proceedings are intended to be professionally recorded, livestreamed, and accompanied by transcripts and summaries in various Indian languages.

Additionally, the Court proposed the ‘Supreme Court Nyaya Shiksha Samman,’ an annual non-monetary award to recognize outstanding contributions to legal education. The first edition of the lecture series is scheduled for September 2026.
