Supreme Court of Pakistan launches 1818 legal helpline

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has launched the 1818 Legal Call Centre, a dedicated helpline designed to provide citizens with free legal guidance and court-related information. Inaugurated by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, the service allows individuals to seek assistance without visiting the court or paying consultation fees.

The helpline provides information on case statuses, hearing dates, cause lists, case fixation, and filing procedures. It also assists with addressing filing objections, obtaining certified copies of judgments and orders, and submitting early hearing applications. Additionally, the centre guides callers on using the Supreme Court’s online services and the Public Facilitation Centre.

To support those facing financial hardships, the initiative includes a referral system to the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan for legal aid. The service aims to improve accessibility for people living in remote areas or those unfamiliar with complex judicial procedures.
