Supreme Court to hear Colorado Catholic preschool LGBTQ admission case

Catholic preschools in Colorado that decline to enroll families with LGBTQ children or parents sued to participate in a state-funded program. The dispute centers on whether government funds can be granted to religious early-childhood providers that refuse LGBTQ families.

The case has moved to the Supreme Court, which has agreed to hear the religious freedom challenge from Colorado preschools. The central question is whether mandating LGBTQ-inclusive enrollment as a condition of funding burdens religious practice.

Administrators argue they should not be required to admit LGBTQ families in order to receive state funding, a position framed as protecting religious-liberty rights in the context of public funding.
