Supreme Court to hear plea for Ram temple land survey
The Supreme Court of India is scheduled to hear a petition on November 2 regarding a request for an independent survey of the Ram temple site in Ayodhya. Filed by the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Case Trust, the plea seeks to verify whether the temple currently under construction stands on the exact land and premises defined by the court’s 2019 verdict in the Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute.
The petition requests the appointment of a commission comprising experts in surveying, revenue, archaeology, and technical fields to identify precise boundaries, coordinates, and the extent of the adjudicated land. The petitioner has asked for directions to be issued if any material differences are discovered between the land covered by the 2019 judgment and the current temple premises.
Additionally, the plea calls for the preservation of original maps, plans, and land records. It also seeks improved facilities for devotees and increased financial transparency, including the digitization of daily donations and an annual audit of accounts by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
