Aradhana Misra appointed Uttar Pradesh Congress President

The Congress party has announced a major organizational overhaul of its Uttar Pradesh unit ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’, a three-time MLA from Rampur Khas and daughter of senior leader Pramod Tiwari, has been appointed as the new President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), succeeding Ajay Rai.

As part of the reshuffle, Saharanpur MP Imran Masood has been named Working President. Additionally, Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad have been appointed as Senior Vice Presidents, and Chaudhary Virendra Singh has been named the Leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) in the state assembly.

The leadership changes are viewed as a strategic move to balance social demographics. By appointing Misra, a prominent Brahmin face, and Masood, a key Muslim leader, the party aims to consolidate support among diverse voter groups. The restructuring seeks to strengthen the party's organizational presence and grassroots mobilization in the state.
