Ayodhya Ram Temple donation theft: SIT identifies 105 incidents
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the alleged theft of donations at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir has identified 105 separate incidents of theft through CCTV footage analysis. The investigation has substantially concluded, with the SIT reporting that all individuals involved in the embezzlement have been identified.
During a Supreme Court hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench that the Uttar Pradesh government intends to file the official chargesheet within two days. This timeline is critical as the 90-day statutory window for filing the chargesheet expires on September 25, after which the accused could become eligible for default bail.
In Ayodhya, a special court recently rejected bail applications for three accused individuals linked to the case. Prosecutors have reported the recovery of ₹79.85 lakh. Meanwhile, political opposition, led by Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, has criticized the delay in filing the chargesheet, alleging it may be a strategy to protect high-profile orchestrators of the theft.
