Supreme Court to decide key cases on citizenship, guns and transgender athletes in June

The U.S. Supreme Court enters the final month of its term with 26 pending cases, including high‑profile disputes over birthright citizenship, gun possession, transgender athletes and the president’s authority over independent agencies.

Justices will consider the executive order that seeks to deny citizenship to children of certain non‑citizen visa holders, a challenge that could reshape the interpretation of the 14th Amendment. Separate cases address whether a federal ban on gun ownership by habitual illegal‑drug users violates the Second Amendment and whether states may prohibit licensed gun owners from carrying firearms in private businesses without the owners’ consent.

Two additional appeals involve whether schools can bar transgender girls from competing on girls’ teams under Title IX and the Constitution. The court will also hear arguments on party‑committee fundraising limits and rules that would exclude mail‑in ballots received after Election Day. Earlier this term the court struck down President Trump’s worldwide tariff regime and invalidated a Louisiana congressional map that favored a Black Democrat, outcomes that have already altered political calculations.
