Supreme Courts issue rulings in Paraguay land dispute and Costa Rican infrastructure case

In Paraguay, the Supreme Court's Constitutional Chamber has ordered the Club Náutico San Bernardino to return a 2,025-square-meter plot of land located on the shores of Lake Ypacaraí to the Municipality of San Bernardino. The ruling concludes a 19-year legal dispute. The club had challenged the eviction order, arguing they had a valid purchase agreement and had made improvements to the property, but the court rejected their appeal.

In Costa Rica, the First Chamber of the Supreme Court has upheld a sentence against Autopistas del Sol S.A., ordering the company to pay ₡2,528 million. The amount covers public funds used by Conavi to reconstruct the Escazú-Hatillo-Calle Morenos road after technical failures, including landslides and erosion, occurred shortly after the road opened in 2009. The ruling follows a lawsuit initiated by the Comptroller General of the Republic (CGR) in 2014 regarding technical deficiencies in the project's execution.
