Supreme Federal Court protects 158 Uncisal student enrollments
The President of the Supreme Federal Court, Minister Edson Fachin, has granted an injunction to suspend a decision by the Court of Justice of Alagoas regarding student enrollments at the State University of Health Sciences of Alagoas (Uncisal).
The previous ruling by the Alagoas Court of Justice had ordered the reclassification of candidates in the 2026 Prosel/Uncisal selection process and the immediate cancellation of 158 enrollments. This stemmed from a legal challenge against a state law providing a 10% grade bonus to candidates from Alagoas or local high school graduates.
The STF decision ensures that the students remain enrolled until the main legal action reaches a final judgment. The court noted that immediate termination of these ties would affect 45% of the incoming class and cause significant disruption to administrative order, student assistance, and the current academic calendar.
