Supreme Federal Court suspends session on Moraes investigation
An extraordinary session of the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) was suspended after Minister Flávio Dino requested a review of the case. The session aimed to analyze the validity of a Federal Police report regarding the conduct of Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
The Federal Police investigation involves messages between Moraes and Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Banco Master, as well as a R$ 130 million contract between the financial institution and the law firm belonging to the minister's wife. Minister André Mendonça, the rapporteur for the Master case, removed the secrecy status of these documents.
The proceedings were marked by intense conflict between ministers. Moraes accused Mendonça of selective document release and omitting evidence, while Moraes himself was accused of acting for political interests. STF President Edson Fachin ruled to separate the processes. Minister Dias Toffoli declared himself recused, and Nunes Marques declared an impediment. The case is currently pending a 90-day review period.
