Supreme Judicial Council approves judicial promotions and appointments in Aden

The Supreme Judicial Council held its periodic meeting in the temporary capital, Aden, chaired by President Mohsen Yahya Taleb. The council reviewed performance reports from the first half of 2026 provided by the Attorney General, the Minister of Justice, and the head of the Judicial Inspection Authority.

Key decisions included approving promotions and settlements for members of the judicial authority. Notable appointments include the promotion of Judge Mohammed Abdul-Jabbar Ahmed Saleh Al-Thuwair to Supreme Court member and his assignment as Deputy Head of the Judicial Inspection Authority for court affairs. Additionally, Judge Hassan Ahmed Hassan Al-Shaibani was assigned to the Supreme Court, and Judge Abdulkarim Qasim Mahboub was appointed to lead the Taiz Court of Appeal.

The council also approved the secondment of various judges and prosecutors to several governorates, including Aden, Lahj, Shabwah, Marib, Abyan, and Hodeidah, to fill vacancies and strengthen judicial operations. In a significant move, the council also approved the lifting of immunity for a judge to allow for investigation regarding alleged criminal incidents.
