Supriya Sule denies any merger proposal between NCP (SP) and Congress

Supriya Sule, the working president of the Nationalist Congress Party (Splinter) (NCP‑SP), told reporters that neither her party nor the Indian National Congress has sent or received any proposal to merge. She said party chief Sharad Pawar and senior leaders have not been contacted about such a move, and she has not seen any formal offer.

Sule rejected claims made by Congress leader Nana Patole and noted that suggestions by Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut to merge the parties were only personal advice. She also said she was unaware of the details of a recent meeting between Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, emphasizing that no merger discussions resulted from that encounter.

Addressing broader political concerns, Sule warned against party‑splitting tactics, comparing current speculation to past splits of Shiv Sena and NCP. She also voiced support for farmers, praising NCP‑SP MLA Rohit Pawar’s hunger strike for farm‑loan waiver reforms, and called for a strong Indian response to the death of three Indian seafarers in a Gulf of Oman oil‑tanker strike.
