SUR-CSIRT launches cybersecurity awareness campaign for youth in Suriname

The Suriname Cyber Security Incident Response Team (SUR-CSIRT) has initiated an educational campaign in schools to protect young people from cyberbullying, online harassment, and digital account theft.

The campaign includes interactive workshops designed to teach students practical security measures, such as creating strong, unique passwords and enabling two-step verification. Students are also being trained to recognize suspicious messages and manage privacy settings on social media to prevent criminal exploitation of their personal data.

The outreach program began at the Mgr. De Bekkerschool and is scheduled to expand to various schools across Paramaribo, Commewijne, and Marowijne. SUR-CSIRT also emphasizes the importance of parental involvement in maintaining children's digital safety.
