Surabaya and Gresik report motorcycle thefts and fatal traffic accident

Multiple reports of motorcycle thefts have emerged in the Surabaya and Gresik regions. As of Thursday evening, August 27, 2026, ten motorcycles were reported missing. The thefts occurred in various locations, including boarding houses (kos) and store parking areas, across neighborhoods such as Dukuh Bulak Banteng, Tembok Lor, Manukan, and Barata Jaya in Surabaya, as well as in Kedamean, Gresik.

In a separate incident in Surabaya, a motorcyclist, Rangga Dwi Novansyah, is facing trial at the Surabaya District Court following a fatal traffic accident on Jalan Kusuma Bangsa. The defendant is accused of negligence after attempting to overtake a vehicle and striking two pedestrians on a zebra cross. The collision resulted in the death of an 82-year-old man named Midi. The defendant faces up to six years in prison under the Law on Traffic and Road Transportation.
