Surabaya pile-up involving Toyota Alphard injures six

A multi-vehicle pile-up occurred on Jalan Menur Pumpungan in the Sukolilo district of Surabaya on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The accident involved a Toyota Alphard striking four cars and 11 motorcycles.

Six people sustained injuries in the collision and were transported to Rumah Haji Surabaya for medical treatment. The driver of the luxury vehicle, identified as 56-year-old Yusuf from Probolinggo, reportedly attempted to flee the scene after the crash but was eventually caught by a crowd after becoming stuck in traffic.

Witnesses reported that the driver was traveling at high speed. While the driver claimed he lost control due to drowsiness from medication, local residents alleged he was panicking following a prior collision in a different location. The driver was subsequently confronted by an angry crowd at the scene.
