Suraj Hegde, AICC Secretary, Dies; Priyanka Gandhi and Party Leaders Offer Condolences

Suraj Hegde, a 55‑year‑old secretary of the All India Congress Committee and Vice‑Chairman of Karnataka’s Guarantee Committee, died of a reported cardiac arrest at a private hospital late on Sunday night. Hegde had previously served as the in‑charge of the Indian Youth Congress and was the grandson of former Karnataka chief minister Devaraj Urs.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra posted on X that his passing was a "great loss to all of us in the Congress family" and expressed heartfelt condolences to his family. Rajasthan MLA Sachin Pilot and Congress digital wing chair Supriya Shrinate also issued statements describing his death as an irreparable loss and praising his dedication to party organization and mentorship of young leaders.
