Suraj Kumar Chand clinches men's singles gold at FISU University Squash in Mumbai

India's Suraj Kumar Chand, representing Somaiya Vidyavihar University, won the men's singles gold at the 2026 FISU World University Championship Squash in Mumbai. He defeated Hungary's Benedek Takács in a five‑game final, 5‑11, 11‑8, 11‑5, 6‑11, 11‑4, securing India's first men's singles title at the event in 16 years.

In the women's final, Spain's Marta Domínguez Fernández retained her crown, beating Hong Kong China's Ching Hei Fung 11‑3, 11‑7, 11‑7. The tournament will move to team events from Friday.

The victories were celebrated by a home crowd and mark a significant achievement for Indian university squash.
