Suraja the dog finds home after rescue from Romanian killing station

A dog named Suraja has found a new home after being rescued from a Romanian killing station. The dog was originally taken in by the Köln-Dellbrück animal shelter in May following her rescue from Vetmedan SRL, a private facility in Suraia.

Investigations by activists and reports from Digi24 revealed widespread abuses at the Vetmedan SRL facility, including allegations of illegal killings and mistreatment. Authorities reportedly searched the premises and initiated criminal proceedings after images of the conditions were made public. It is alleged that approximately 15,000 dogs were killed at the facility, with funding totaling more than five million euros in public money. The facility has since been closed.
