Surat: Large tree collapse near Nanpura market injures several
A large tree suddenly collapsed near the Nanpura vegetable market in Surat, causing panic and injuries. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, occurred in a busy area near the Dotivala Bakery.
Reports indicate that between three and five people, including local traders and pedestrians, sustained injuries after being trapped under the tree. Local residents acted quickly to rescue three individuals before the fire department arrived. Firefighters later used cutting machines to clear the debris and free several vehicles—estimated between four and seven—that were crushed by the fall.
In addition to personal injuries, the collapse caused significant damage to nearby shops and parked vehicles. The main road was temporarily blocked but has since been cleared for traffic. Following the incident, local residents and traders have called on the administration to identify and remove other hazardous or weak trees in the area to prevent future accidents.
