Surat police dismantle interstate MD drug network

The Surat Crime Branch has dismantled an interstate MD (mephedrone) drug network, arresting two individuals and seizing approximately 977 grams of the substance. The seized drugs have an estimated international market value exceeding 30 lakh rupees.

The arrested individuals, identified as Mansi Abdul Sayed and Sohail Suleman Sheikh, are residents of the Santacruz area in Mumbai. Police identified Sayed as the mastermind behind the operation. According to authorities, Sayed is a former Malaysia Airlines flight attendant with a prior criminal record involving drug trafficking in Madhya Pradesh.

The operation was conducted following intelligence regarding a drug delivery near the Vadodara railway station. The suspects traveled from Mumbai to Vadodara in a rented car to collect the drugs before attempting to return to Mumbai via the expressway through Surat. Following technical surveillance and human intelligence, the Surat Crime Branch and Surat Rural Police intercepted the vehicle near the Ayna toll plaza, leading to the arrests.
