Surat textile market fire: Massive blaze engulfs upper floors

A major fire broke out at the Shyam Sangini Textile Market in the Saroli area of Surat, Gujarat, early Wednesday morning. The first emergency call was received by the fire control room at approximately 12:52 a.m.

Firefighters found the fourth and fifth floors of the market engulfed in flames, with thick smoke significantly reducing visibility inside the building. Due to the market's double-height floor design, crews have had to conduct operations at heights of approximately 20 metres using turntable ladders and hydraulic platforms.

Approximately 20 to 22 fire tenders were deployed to manage the blaze. As a precautionary measure to prevent electrical hazards, the electricity supply to the building has been shut off. No casualties have been reported as of the latest updates.
