Surduk hosts 34th Fijakerijada horse carriage festival
The 34th Fijakerijada festival has opened in Surduk, bringing together more than 100 horse-drawn carriages from various regions across Serbia. The event celebrates local traditions and horse breeding, which is deeply rooted in the history of the Srem region.
Dragan Glamočić, the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management in a technical mandate, attended the opening. He highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage and noted the economic significance of the local agricultural sector. In Surduk, there are 170 agricultural holdings covering over 1,350 hectares of land.
To support local producers, the Ministry has provided approximately 70 million dinars in incentives to farmers in Surduk over the last two years. Additionally, more than 1.2 billion dinars have been distributed to farmers within the wider Stara Pazova municipality. The festival also features stalls from women's associations from Srem, showcasing traditional skills and products.
