Surf City 10 sees record 10,000 runners in 70th annual race

A record 10,000 runners participated in the 70th running of the Surf City 10 in Huntington Beach, marking a more than 50% increase in participation compared to 2025. The event, which features 5K, 10K, and 10-mile courses along the Pacific Coast Highway, is recognized as the oldest 10-mile race in the United States and the oldest annual race in Orange County.

In the women’s 10-mile race, Rosie Edwards of Arizona secured first place with a time of 58:10. Jonathan Velasco of San Marcos won the men’s 10-mile division in 47:59. For the 10K distance, Gabriel Ferreyra of Perris won the men’s race for the second consecutive year, while Katie Alvarenga of Northridge took first place in the women’s 10K with a time of 37:04.
