Surgeon Daniel Alejandro Armesto found safe in Mar del Plata

Daniel Alejandro Armesto, a 68-year-old cardiovascular surgeon, has been found safe in Mar del Plata after being reported missing from his home in Buenos Aires.

Armesto disappeared on a Friday, leaving behind a note for his wife, Laura Alfonso, which contained an unsettling message: ‘Bomboncito, perdoname. Me hiciste inmensamente feliz. Elegí como final el mar, búscame ahí’ (“Sweetheart, forgive me. You made me immensely happy. I chose the sea as my end, look for me there”).

Following the report, authorities reconstructed his journey via security cameras and bus company information. Investigators determined he took a taxi to the Retiro bus terminal and traveled to Mar del Plata, arriving in the early hours of Saturday. Federal Police located him in the coastal city, and he is reported to be unharmed. Armesto is a professor at the Hospital Italiano University and works with the Mater Dei group.
