Surgeon's defense attributes entrepreneur's death to rare anesthesia reaction

The defense for plastic surgeon Rossini Tebaldi Ruback has attributed the death of 31-year-old entrepreneur Adriele da Silva Pinto to a rare anesthetic reaction. According to attorney Erick Achy, the patient experienced a sudden and severe clinical change during the final stages of a procedure in Ilhéus, which the anesthesiology team identified as potentially fatal malignant hyperthermia.

The defense stated that medical professionals immediately stopped the anesthetic agents, administered dantrolene, and sought assistance from other doctors. They maintain that the patient remained under continuous care until her death and denied allegations that the surgeon abandoned the patient. The attorney also clarified that Ruback remained at the hospital until the arrival of the Military Police following an incident of property damage by a relative of the deceased.

While the defense addressed previous complaints against the surgeon, the Regional Medical Council (Cremeb) reported that there are currently no active ethical-professional proceedings against him. The death of Adriele da Silva Pinto remains under investigation by authorities.
