Suriname enhances aviation sector through French and ICAO partnerships
Suriname is advancing its aviation sector through new international partnerships and strategic training initiatives. The Surinamese government has signed a letter of intent with France to foster technical cooperation. This agreement aims to address aviation restrictions and improve connectivity between Paramaribo and Cayenne, potentially boosting tourism and trade between the two nations.
As part of this cooperation, the Direction Générale de l'Aviation Civile (DGAC) of France is funding specialized training in audit techniques for the Civil Aviation Authority Suriname (CASAS). This training, led by experts from the French National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC), focuses on strengthening oversight and improving aviation infrastructure.
Simultaneously, Suriname’s Ministry of Transport, Communication, and Tourism (TCT) has launched a five-day Civil Aviation Master Plan (CAMP) training in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). This program focuses on strategic planning, modernization, safety, and sustainable development to ensure the country's aviation sector becomes more efficient and internationally competitive.
