Suriname launches free tourism and hospitality training program Leri Fu Feni Wroko

The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Labour (VWA) of Suriname, together with the Suriname Hospitality and Tourism Training Centre (SHTTC) and financed by the Inter‑American Development Bank (IDB), opened registration for the third edition of the free training programme “Leri Fu Feni Wroko”. Registration began on 1 July 2026, with the official opening on 29 July, and courses run from 3 August 2026 through March 2027. Training is offered in Paramaribo, Commewijne, Para, Wanica, Nickerie and Sipaliwini and targets job‑seekers and employed workers wanting skills in tourism and hospitality. Participants must be at least 17 and hold a GLO diploma. The programme provides transport and childcare support, and links graduates directly to employers, a feature highlighted by acting SHTTC director Nazara Kranenburg. An open day is scheduled for 31 August. Successful trainees receive a certificate co‑signed by the VWA, SHTTC and the IDB.
