Suriname launches Operatie Gran Mati medical mission

The sixth edition of Operatie Gran Mati has launched, providing free medical services and health education to residents in the Marowijne district, specifically in Moengo and Albina. Running from August 19 to August 29, the initiative is led by the Ministry of Defense in collaboration with local and international partners from the Netherlands and the United States.

At the Hubertus Waaldijkschool in Moengo, residents can access basic healthcare, dental care, and eye care. The program also includes educational components focused on healthy nutrition, the importance of vaccinations, and disease prevention.

Minister of Defense Uraiqit Ramsaran stated that the operation demonstrates the military's social responsibility beyond national security. He noted that 'Gran Mati' translates to 'big friend,' emphasizing the bond between the defense forces and the community through concrete actions and support.
