Suriname Ministry of Agriculture and VSB discuss rice and poultry sector challenges

The Surinamese Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (LVV) held discussions with the Surinamese Business Association (VSB) to address critical challenges within the rice and poultry sectors.

Key issues identified include the availability of quality hatching eggs, which is essential for maintaining healthy poultry populations and ensuring sector growth. Producers also expressed concerns regarding the rising costs of feed and other production inputs, which directly impact profitability.

Both parties emphasized the need for a sustainable approach and closer cooperation between the government and the private sector. Future discussions will focus on concrete action points, including the potential for subsidies, financial support, and the implementation of new technologies to increase production efficiency.
