Suriname Ministry of Home Affairs launches civil servant training programs
The Directorate of Human Resource Management at Suriname's Ministry of Home Affairs is encouraging civil servants to enroll in seven professional development courses. Under the slogan ‘Invest in yourself – Build a strong and service-oriented government!’, the initiative aims to create a more skilled cadre within the government apparatus to improve the quality of public services.
Deputy Minister Kelvin Koniki noted that the government faces significant challenges in attracting and retaining highly educated employees, often due to gaps between professional expectations and available salary and working conditions. To address these issues, an evaluation committee was established to review civil servant training. The resulting report, presented to Minister Marinus Bee, outlines necessary transformations for the sector.
An open day will be held on Saturday, August 29, from 09:00 to 14:00 at the National Archives of Suriname (NAS). During this event, interested officials can obtain information regarding the courses, admission requirements, and enrollment procedures.
