Suriname officials conduct working visits to Nickerie and Wanica

Surinamese officials are conducting working visits to various districts to address justice, security, and infrastructure. In Nickerie, Minister of Justice and Security Harish Monorath visited several departmental services and met with District Commissioner Nisha Kurban. A key development in the district is the completion of a new courthouse by the contractor, which is expected to officially begin operations in October.

In Wanica, Police Chief Melvin Pinas met with District Commissioner Ravi Bhattoe to discuss public order, safety, and traffic enforcement. Discussions focused on increasing police presence in various areas, including the potential establishment of a biker unit in De Nieuwe Grond and evaluating locations for a unit in Lelydorp. Additionally, officials discussed improving the first aid skills of police officers and addressing traffic safety concerns regarding public buses and freight vehicles.
