Suriname offshore oil industry faces growth and safety concerns

As Suriname’s offshore oil and gas industry expands, the sector presents both significant economic opportunities and substantial operational and environmental challenges. Local workers are increasingly seeking careers in the industry, which offers attractive incomes but requires high mental resilience due to long shifts, strict safety protocols, and extended periods away from home. Simultaneously, concerns regarding environmental safety are rising.
