Suriname police arrest two suspects in Telesur cable vandalism investigation

Suriname police have arrested two suspects, identified as D. V. F. and N. N. A., in connection with a series of fiber optic cable vandalisms targeting Telesur infrastructure. The arrests were part of a joint operation involving the Capital Crimes Department, various regional detective units, and the Criminal Intelligence Unit, with support from Telesur.

During the operation in Paramaribo, authorities seized two vehicles believed to be used in the crimes. Inside one vehicle, police discovered masks, gloves, and cable cutters. The suspects are linked to the destruction of a fiber optic cable in the Wanica district and are also being investigated for a residential burglary that occurred shortly after the cable damage.

Law enforcement officials suspect the individuals may be part of a larger criminal group involved in similar activities. The investigation remains ongoing to identify other potential members of the group.
