Suriname police conduct drug operations in Albina and Moengo

Surinamese police conducted operations targeting drug trafficking in the eastern part of the country on November 4, 2026. In Albina, officers targeted a sales stand near the waterfront following community reports of public drug sales. During the intervention, one suspect fled into the brush after police fired warning shots, while another man was detained for questioning. Although no drugs were found on the detained individual, police recovered packaging materials at the site.

In Moengo, authorities arrested a man identified as P. R. near the Moengo Mall, an area noted by police as a drug sales point. The suspect was found in possession of hashish, which he claimed was for personal use. P. R., who has a prior arrest at the same location for narcotics violations, was transferred to Moengo police and subsequently remanded in custody following consultation with the Public Prosecutor's Office.
