Suriname police investigate multiple residential burglaries

Police in Suriname are investigating multiple residential burglaries involving the theft of valuables.

In the Wanica district, a home on Leiding 8 was targeted during the night of September 12–13, 2026. The resident discovered the front door open upon returning home in the early morning. Stolen items include SRD 200,000, USD 1,500, and various 18-karat gold jewelry, including bracelets, a necklace, and coins. A witness reported hearing noises and seeing an unidentified white vehicle near the property during the night.

In a separate incident on Saturnusstraat, burglars broke into a residence on a Wednesday morning, making off with two safes. The Geyersvlijt police are leading the investigation into the method of entry and are working to track the suspects' direction of travel. The exact contents and total value of the stolen safes have not yet been determined.
