Suriname police seize hidden cigarettes in Stolkertsijver

Surinamese authorities intercepted a shipment of hidden cigarettes during a police inspection in the Stolkertsijver area. The contraband was discovered inside a white Toyota Estima, where it had been concealed in various ways, including inside a black trash bag in the trunk and within a suitcase placed behind a passenger.

Two men, identified as K. B. and P. G., were detained in connection with the discovery. Following consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, K. B. has been placed in custody, while P. G. was released after questioning. Both individuals are suspected of violating the Smuggling Act and the Economic Crimes Act.

The seized cigarettes have been transferred to the Fraud Department, which is conducting an investigation into the origin of the goods and the circumstances of their transport.
