Suriname residents protest persistent power outages

Residents in Suriname are expressing intense frustration over persistent load shedding and frequent power outages. Citizens report that electricity interruptions can last for several hours, causing significant disruption to daily life.

The instability is particularly difficult for families dealing with high temperatures and for small business owners who face potential revenue losses and spoiled goods. A spokesperson for the KIVC noted that while citizens are required to pay their electricity bills, they cannot be certain of having power during the day or evening. There are growing calls for authorities to provide more clarity regarding the causes of these outages and to implement structural solutions to address the capacity shortages.
