R Madhavan's biopic 'GDN' scheduled for worldwide release on August 7, 2026

Actor R Madhavan’s pan‑India biographical film “GDN”, chronicling the life of Indian inventor G D Naidu, has been postponed from its original mid‑July slot and will now open worldwide on August 7, 2026. The postponement was announced on the day of the intended release, making the schedule change a notable industry development.

Directed and co‑written by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Sathyaraj, Jayaram, Priyamani, Vinay Rai, Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan. Produced by Varghese Moolan Pictures in association with Madhavan’s Tricolour Films, the project portrays multiple stages of Naidu’s career, from his early innovations to his later years, with Madhavan appearing almost unrecognisable as the inventor ages.

The release will be in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, and the promotional material highlights Naidu’s role as the “Edison of India”, who pioneered the country’s first indigenous electric motor.
