Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons earns ₹33 crore worldwide on opening day

The film ‘Vishwanath & Sons’, directed by Venky Atluri and starring Suriya, has achieved a strong opening at the box office, collecting approximately ₹33 crore gross worldwide. The film’s performance has been particularly notable in Telugu-speaking states, where it reportedly earned around ₹6.5 crore on its first day, and in Kerala, where it grossed ₹1.75 crore.

Critics have described the film as a warm family drama that explores unconventional relationships, specifically focusing on the bond between a 40-year-old bachelor (Suriya) and a younger woman (Mamitha Baiju). While the performances of the lead actors and Radikaa Sarathkumar have received praise, some reviews noted that the film’s second half occasionally loses focus or becomes overly melodramatic.

Despite lower-than-expected advance bookings, positive word-of-mouth has driven significant walk-in crowds, marking one of Suriya’s biggest openings to date.
