PT PLN (Persero) undergoes leadership change and transformation mandate
President Prabowo Subianto has ordered a comprehensive transformation of PT PLN (Persero), focusing on business model improvements, increased efficiency, and the acceleration of 100 GW of solar energy capacity.
In a related leadership change, Suroso Isnandar has been appointed as the new President Director of PT PLN (Persero), replacing Darmawan Prasodjo. The appointment was finalized during an Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPSLB) on October 14, 2026. Minister Bahlil Lahadalia clarified that the leadership transition is a standard corporate action directed by the President.
Additionally, Danantara Indonesia announced that PLN Batam will be placed directly under its management to strengthen service quality following recent power supply disruptions in the region. PLN Batam currently operates as an independent entity without government subsidies.
Separately, the National Energy Council noted that Indonesia's nuclear power program is awaiting a presidential signature for the establishment of the Nuclear Energy Program Implementing Organization (NEPIO).
